Short Run was extremely all right. I traded away all 20-something copies of my new zine. But look at all this stuff I got! ((sorry I dont have a real camera))
SHORT RUN POST #1 (OF 3)
Chickensnack Comix Sampler 2010 - Brian Lee an impeccable collection of mostly Left & Right comics, but also some Trobblers strips, some “Buntain Simpson” style strips, and delightful parodies of Scott Pilgrim and Sweet Bro & Hella Jeff. So much good stuff! What! Brian Lee is a national treasure.
Dismal Speed a small new anthology mini of very pretty disgusting images by Max Clotfelter, Jason T. Miles, a few others. Really good/gross.
End of the Rainbow vol. 2 - Erin Tanner more single-page strips of colorful magical realism like a posi version of some old Garo cartoonist. rewards upon multiple readings
Losing Lies - "Chuck D." a collection of the webcomic Losing Lies, which at some points would update multiple times a day. Charlie is a comics-making machine, and reading all these mostly improvisational strips in one sitting is profoundly inspiring.
Pube Smoke - Max Clotfelter the first ish of Max’s new series?? It’s a bunch of stories of various length but all of them are drop-dead gorgeous cartooning. This dude’s technique routinely blows my mind and this shit represents a new plateau. Incredible!!
Radical Misgivings About Our New God - Marc Palm bringing that 90’s alt comix surrealism back by way of a very OuBaPo style narrative experiment. hella clever
Sharknife vs. A Poop Bot - Corey Lewis okay yeah Sharknife is fighting a poop bot in this mini, but it’s still crisp, cute cartooning, with excellent lettering and prostyle shonen propulsion. You should already know coreyyy
Things That Sound Awesome But Are Actually Terrible - Bobby Mono pretty self explanatory, with cute picture book style drawings and an excellent print job. too short!
Zines Through the Ages - a little anthology zine about zines featuring witty images in bouyant brushwork by the likes of Tom van Deusen, Tim Miller, and more
